The Corporate PowerPoint Template Is a Barrier between Sales Professionals and Their Prospects!

 

Barriers in Sales Presentations“I tell them to stop using the corporate template.  It just puts up another barrier between the sales person and the prospect.”

“Wait.  I’ve never heard it said that way before.  I’ve told people not to use templates because they detract from the presentation’s message.  I’ve never heard someone say that the template puts up a barrier.”

“Yeah, it’s just more me, me, me about the company doing the selling instead of focusing on the prospect and their needs.  Templates put up a barrier between the sales person and the client.”

That was the gist of the conversation I had with Mike Schwartz, a learning program manager with the Cox Media group.

That’s HUGE!  The corporate template — the pretty, standardized PowerPoint slides that the marketing department is giving you to use in your sales presentations — is actually putting a barrier between you and the prospects you’re trying to reach!

Michael is so right!  I’d never thought about it that way before, but he’s spot on!

 

Ditch the Corporate Template!

If you’re revising your presentation to focus on the customer and their issues, then keep moving in the right direction.  Stop using those corporate templates.
