With just a few days left in 2012, let’s take a look back and the most popular blogs of 2012! Did your favorite make the list?

My number one post for the Speaking Practically blog… had nothing at all to do with presentations!
I got great customer service from a company called Big Fish Games. I have the power of the blog. I took time to thank Big Fish for the great customer service experience.
Yeah, I know, I need to get more traffic to my blog!!!
#2 – Go with the Flow – How to Organize Your Technical Presentation to Get Business Results – Part 3 – Chunking by the Numbers Structure
June 7th, 2012
With a bit of a stretch, I repeat the story of the time I broke up a fight at the Truck Stop Café and how that’s similar to organizing your technical presentation. (I said it was a stretch, right?)
# 3 – Translating PowerPoint Slides: How to Choose Fonts in PowerPoint that Are Used in Both the Apple / Mac Version of PowerPoint and the PC / Windows Versions of Office 2007 / Office 2010
September 10th, 2012
During a training class in September, while using a PC laptop, I mentioned in passing that my other computer was a Mac. (OK, truth be told, I was having some technical issues and I said that I wasn’t used to using a PC – that I normally use a Mac. But honestly, I wasn’t being snooty when I said it!)
After the session, one of the attendees asked me how I dealt with “translation” issues between slides created in the Mac version of PowerPoint versus slides created on a Windows version of PowerPoint. Evidently he wasn’t the only one who had a similar question, which made my answer to the question the 3rd most popular post this year.

I did not watch the Oscars this year. My latent jealousy of never pursuing my promising yet totally imaginary acting career makes it too painful. But I did make a few points about Meryl Streep’s win for best actress and her acceptance speech – which turned out to be the 6th most viewed blog post this year!

One of two posts that were on the top ten list last year as well. This is probably still one of my favorites too. It all stemmed from the question…“Where did you get the picture of those hospital beds?”

At the age of 48 years and 11 months, I decided to take up the drums. Yes, under this nerdy exterior lurks the heart of a wannabe, uber-cool, rock-n-roll chick. The experience taught me lessons that I think apply to learning to present.
#9 – Want a Better Presentation? Appeal to Your Attention-Deficit, Entertain-Me-Now, Wait-While-I-Post-that-on-Facebook Audience
June 29th, 2012
In February 2011, I came up with at “tagline” for myself that goes like this…
In an attention-deficit, entertain-me-now, wait-while-I-post-that-on-Facebook kind of world, the typical business presentation is lame.
It’s our new normal. This post discussed elements that you could introduce to hook your audience.

Everyone can benefit from practicing in front of a friend, trusted colleague or a professional coach before delivering an important presentation. This post provides a few creative ways to provide feedback that I’ve used with clients.
